San Juan Suites - Northwest Passages - Waterview! Downtown Friday Harbor! Beautifully furnished and interior updated in 2020, the Northwest Passages Suite is a luxurious getaway in the heart of Friday Harbor. This unit is on the second level of a beautiful downtown building with stair access only. Enjoy the ambiance of the propane stove or watch the ferry and boating traffic from your balcony while grilling your local catch on the outdoor BBQ.

The suite has a fully equipped kitchen beautifully detailed with granite counter tops and stainless appliances. Enjoy a meal at the breakfast bar built for two or gather around the beautiful dining table with seating for 4. This suite is equipped with a standard, drip-style coffee maker. The living space offers a DVD player, HDTV, satellite TV, and a view of the Friday Harbor Ferry Dock. This one (1) bedroom suite is furnished with a King size bed and opens to a full bath complete with a Jacuzzi tub and walk-in fully tiled shower for rest and relaxation! The entryway of the Northwest Passage Suite is equipped with an additional 3/4 bathroom (with walk-in shower) and access to the stackable washer and dryer.

The second bed in this suite is an Aerobed.

The block surrounding the San Juan Suites offers many delicious restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, ice-cream shops and art galleries, all within walking distance. On Saturday mornings the local San Juan Island Farmer's Market is a 1-minute walk from the San Juan Suites!

This house has good cell phone reception.

This unit is equipped with Central Air.

One car per unit is allowed in the off-street parking space.

There is not an elevator in the building, climbing a flight of 18 stairs is required.

Pets are not allowed at this property.

  The Northwest Passages suite in Friday Harbor is a fantastic stay and what a view! We enjoyed watching the ferry come and go, the seaplanes land and general maritime view. The suite itself was very accommodating with kitchen, living room and king size bedroom. Since the suite was located in town, we didn't cook much but enjoyed the coffee maker and toaster. Loved the comfy leather couches with a seaside view. The bedroom is roomy with a king size bed and en suite bath. We LOVED having two bathrooms! The bed is too stiff for our taste and could be benefited from either a new mattress or maybe a plush topper, but again just our preference. Overall, this suite is definitely worth the money and would love to stay here again. The location cannot be beat!!

  Fairly easy to enter and leave, once we received the information in a form we could read. Because we were several days traveling without internet, it was diffcult to retrieve the information. However we reached a live person, who talked us through, which was great. The amenities were good, especially those for bathing/sleeping. We never figured out the TV but for us that was not a loss. The kitchen was moderately supplied, but better than most - sufficient plates, cups, glasses, and silverware. We enjoyed watching the ferry crowd gather (which we eventually joined). Location was terrific. Close to everything downtown.

  This unit was perfectly located for us, and it was clean, cute and cozy. We could watch the ferries arrive so we knew when to go down there rather than waiting at the ferry wait area. There was zero noise from the coffee shop below us. I would suggest ear plugs because the cars/trucks lining up for the ferry can be noisy, and they start early.

  This is a really spacious rental that was well equipped to cook meals and relax. The fireplace was easy to use and the view of the harbor was fantastic. We really appreciated that they allowed us to reschedule our visit when our flights were canceled in December. The management staff was very responsive, and clearly explained how to access the rental, parking lot, etc. The location of this rental was great if you want to be able to walk to all of the restaurants, stores and tours in Friday Harbor. The proximity to the ferry dock is very convenient, but it may not be a good fit for those that want to sleep in.

  We stayed in Northwest Passages for four days just before Christmas. It was a perfect spot -- downtown, a view of the water and the ferry landing. There's plenty of room in the condo, a spectacular jetted tub, well-outfitted kitchen. There was remarkably little sound from the ferry and ferry boarding line. The coffee shop downstairs starts up early Thursday - Sunday and there's a little noise and the smell of coffee but nothing disruptive. We had made a mistake and underbooked ourselves by a day and the management could not have been nicer about extending our stay at the last minute. Also, the place was spotless when we got there, including baking pans, the grill, the appliances, the floors. They take cleaning seriously! We had a really nice time.

  They had literally thought of everything. From plush bath towels to dimmers on the lights, this place was perfect. There was some noise associated with the town and the ferry parking, but they had a nice little sound machine to drown that out.

  We had a great time at our stay in the Northwest Passages condo. It is literally steps away from the ferry terminal. We were pleased at how spacious the accommodations were. The kitchen was well stocked with all the tools needed to make meals. There was even an extra full bathroom and a working jacuzzi tub! I was initially worried about the noise from the neighboring restaurant and ferry terminal but it was never an issue. We would definitely stay again.

  Northwest Passage is in a great location. Walking distance to groceries, restaurants, bars, sights and a beautiful view of the Harbor. The weather was wonderful. The people in the area were friendly and helpful. Loved the Jolly Trolley tour and we rode the inner island ferry out one day just to see the other islands and enjoyed that very much. We saw orcas from the lighthouse. It was a very enjoyable time. The only negatives about the suite was early morning noise from chairs being moved in the coffee shop below and the garbage truck parks itself below the bedroom one morning to load for about 15 minutes and was very noisy. Otherwise a perfect week.

  Great location; well appointed; clean. If you want a sharp knife, bring your own. I used to own a condo in Hawaii and would pack a sharp chef's knife and a sharp filet knife whenever we went there. I still do that.
  
  We couldn't get a couple of channels we often watch. I called the management company who called the owner who was going to upgrade it originally. A couple of days later, the owner was still thinking about it. Our 8-day stay came to an end without the additional channels. Not a deal-breaker for us but a little disappointing.
  
  We saw black and brown foxes on three different days. Late one afternoon, we saw two black foxes lying in wait and one of them getting a bunny. This was off a dirt road to the west of Cattle Point south of Fourth of July Beach. We saw foxes on both the beach road and the road that goes off to the north towards the ramparts.
  
  Our favorite restaurant is TopSail. We also enjoyed the Cask and Schooner. We didn't do our homework about off-season restaurant openings and didn't get to go to the Coho which we have enjoyed in the past.

  Husband & I very much enjoyed our Friday Harbor stay at the Northwest Passage! The view was lovely, lots of ferry activity to watch, and lots of shops and restaurants close by. We loved the size and layout of the condo, the fireplace, the extra bathroom, the big diningroom table(ideal for a puzzle), and the laundry facilities were quite handy.
  It was nice to have a king bed and master bath, though a bed/linens refresh would be even better.
  The lavender farm, alpaca farm, and Roche Harbor were all interesting, beautiful places to visit. Loved the sculpture garden in Roche Harbor too. Husband enjoyed the local golf course, and we both liked walking about the town and taking in the charm of Friday Harbor.
  We truly enjoyed the Northwest Passage suite and would stay there again; highly recommended!

  This is our third stay in the Northwest Passages suite...always lovely, comfortable, cozy and clean. Anticipating stormy weather, we were prepared with books and enjoyed an afternoon of reading by the fire, watching the ferries come and go in the rain. The only downside to this room is the early morning coffee shop noise that filters up through the floors, but then we love running downstairs for a latte, so we appreciate the convenience.

  Our stay in Northwest Passages in the San Juan Suites was fabulous. The apartment was better than expected. The property was very well-maintained and was very clean. The furniture was very comfortable. But the best was the view from the living room and the patio. We loved seeing the comings and goings of the ferries and enjoyed watching the seaplanes coming into the harbor. It was also fun to wave at the patrons of the Crab House below our windows. They too had a great view of the harbor. A well stocked grocery store was nearby as were restaurants. The lavender shop next to the property was an added bonus as our stairway always had a refreshing lavender aroma to it. We dined at Cask and Schooner and at Coho in Friday Harbor and had delightful lunches at Roche Harbor at the restaurant which overlooks the harbor. We booked a fishing trip and although we didn't have a great fishing day, we had a great whale watching day. The whales came as close as 20 feet of our boat. Magnificent. We also chartered a sunset cruise with the Dirigo sail boat. The capt. and crew treated us to a 2.5 hr cruise on a huge 76 year old ship and provided appetizers and drinks and a great sunset! We were the only guests on the ship. We rented a car one day and drove the scenic route around the island, stopping at the Alpaca Farm and San Juan Winery, We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to San Juan Island. The flight on Kenmore Air from SJI to Boeing Field in Seattle was a beautiful way to see the islands and a close up of downtown Seattle.

  Our stay at the San Juan Suites was fabulous. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The suite was huge yet very comfortable. The location was amazing. We brought a car with us and there was parking at no extra cost. It was so convenient when we left and needed to take a ferry as it was right next to the loading zone for the ferry. Even though it was right downtown we were not at all bothered by any excessive noise. We would truly reccomend staying g here at this property. We really loved it!!!!

  Stayed for a few nights at this condo on San Juan Island and had an amazing time. The condo had everything our family of 2 adults and 2 small kids needed (kids slept on a very comfy air mattress). The best part was the location - easy walk to all the restaurants and shops of Friday Harbor and an awesome view of the harbor out the windows. Our kids loved standing in the living room, watching the ferries come. Even though the location is right in the middle of things (literally around the corner from the ferry landing), we did not find noise to be a problem. Had a wonderful time and hope we can visit again some day!

  The condo was outstanding. It was beautifully cared for and perfect for our visit. A large bedroom, plenty of bath, and super view.
  
  On the other hand, Friday Harbor was as empty of things to do and see as it was 10 years has hardly changed. Although that might sound quaint, we were finished looking through stores and touring the island on the first day. Few of the restaurants had good food. So, loved the condo and disappointed (again) in Friday Harbor.

  Our rental was pretty amazing. My wife has been on a lavender kick lately and what a surprise it was to find a lavender store right next door to the rental. Everything was clean and instructions for parking and getting into he room were very clear and helpful. We had never been to Friday Harbor before but our room was a perfect distance for walking to shops or restaurants or marina or whatever. only 10 or 15 minute drive to Lime Kiln State Park.   What a great place to say while on San Juan Islands! We must have commented a few times daily how perfect the location was and how glad we were that we choose it. We were constantly enjoying the view out the window to the harbor. We loved to go for walks and have so much right there at our fingertips. Lots of resturants, bakeries, ice cream places, and shopping made for fun evenings.
  As for the accomadations, they were very nice. Well maintained and comfortable. The room says it sleeps five and I would just qualify this with it sleeps five if two or three are children. The queen air matress they provide to count as sleeping for two is a nice mattress with a built in pump, the only issue is it would only hold air for about 4-5 hours before needing to be topped off again. I reported this to property management so hopefully it gets fixed. But besides a few very minor things San Juan Suites were GREAT! We would definetely use them again and recommend them to anyone that asks.

  Truly a lovely condominium perched above the harbor where you can watch the ferry come in and smell the ocean breezes in this beautiful, beautiful place.   We had a great time on our San Juan getaway! The vacation rental was stocked with everything we needed. The property was conveniently located to hop the shuttle or ferries. We took the shuttle bus around the island to see the various parks and to do some hiking. We rented bikes one day to explore the American Camp and then chartered a boat to see the islands by water. The stay could not have been more fun or enjoyable. The rental was perfect for us and we really liked being right in the middle of town. There was an outdoor restaurant and bar below us but closed at sunset. San Juan Suites is professionally run and they care about your stay. We like staying in condos or homes when traveling and San Juan Suites does a first rate job.

  We stayed here for a long winter weekend and had a great time. The condo was clean and in a prime location in the heart of town - a perfect jumping-off point for exploring the island, going out to dinner, or watching activity in the harbor (or keeping tabs on the ferry line). The gas fireplace gives the place a cozy feel, and there were plenty of dishes, towels, etc. They even put out makeup-remover towelettes, which was an unexpected touch.
  
  One caveat: the condo is located in a mixed-use building right above a coffee shop, so you will hear it in the morning and throughout the day. There was also a wind storm while we were there, which made a lot of noise at night. If you're a light sleeper, you should consider bringing a white-noise machine.

  Spent three nights in the "Northwest Passages" suite in Friday Harbor. The suite was delightful, EXTREMELY well-stocked, and nicely furnished. We had occasion to contact the property management company on a couple of occasions and received prompt help with our issues.
  
  We had reserved the suite for 3 guests but then asked a couple of friends to join us for one night. Contacted SJPM to see if there was an additional charge and were told "No" As long as we didn't exceed the maximum occupancy (5) we wouldn't be charged.
  
  Our only complaint is that the fold out bed in the living room was extremely difficult to open and close. The sofabed should be repaired or replaced to avoid the problem. Otherwise, we couldn't have been happier with our delightful stay.

  My husband and I recently stayed in the Northwest Passage and are so glad we did. The view is amazing, the location to shops is amazing. There is nowhere else we would stay. The only negative comment we would have is that the employees at the shop below start working around 6:00 am and we did not plan on waking that early on our vacation. Other than that, everything was great!

  The Northwest Passage unit in San Juan Suites is very nicely furnished, well equipped and very clean. It has a cyber lock on the door to the entrance stairs to get into the units, lock boxes for keys to each unit and an assigned parking space. This, as well as directions to the unit, was explained very well in emails from the management company. It has a very nice view of the harbor and it was fun watching the ferries come and go. Lots of information in the unit regarding restaurants and things to do and see on the island. If we visit San Juan Island in the future, we will definitely try to rent this unit again.

  We stayed in the Northwest Passage. It was perfect and well represented, views of bay at Friday Harbor were pretty, unit was quiet, fresh, clean and spacious. Kitchen was well appointed, king size bed was very comfortable, soft sheets, big walk-in shower was cool, having two bathrooms was ideal and location was perfect for walking everywhere. No car necessary, easy to rent one up the street at M&W Auto which was within walking distance as well.
  
  Highly recommend this unit and complex, proprietors were delightful, welcoming and very approachable. Couldn’t find a negative and I’m a picky consumer.

  What a treat to watch the ferry runs from the condo living room! Our family of four enjoyed the spacious/clean unit, especially the walk in shower. Restaurants/shops all footsteps away (you'll know when the coffee shop below is preparing to open:)) Great location to base our San Juan Islands trip-sea kayak tours pick up right around the corner. Fabulous property managers-quick and thorough responses...would stay here again.

  This property has everything you need. EVERYTHING! Nice quality pots, dishes, towels, bedding. Perfect location. Awesome shower and bathtub. Staff was nice on the phone and they even mailed me my jacket that I left in the closet for only the price of the shipping.
