  The house was beautiful and very comfortable. The views were wonderful. It is 15 min from Friday Harbor, so it is quiet and peaceful getaway. The kitchen is well stocked! We truly enjoyed our weekend! We rented bikes and road to Snug Harbor, 13 miles each way, very steep hills, but beautiful ride. Kayaking tour out of Snug Harbor was fabulous. We saw whales, Harbor seals, star fish, giant jellyfish and bald eagles. Amazing experience!

  Really enjoyed our 4 nights at this place. A high quality house in just a wonderful setting. The hosts were great. The house had everything we needed. The view is really special - yes, we did see an Orca from the view deck. This was a perfect place for 3 life-long friends to stay and hand out together. Two items to be aware of - (1) while there are three bedrooms, there are only two (huge) bathrooms - not a problem for us, but make sure that is appropriate for your group (2) Wifi works fine, but cell phone service is spotty at best (like in many parts of the island). Overall, a quality place to stay.

  We had a wonderful 3 night stay at Water View Place. The home is lovely, very accurately depicted in the photos.
  The location on the west side of SJI is perfect for sunsets and views over the water to Vancouver Island and Victoria. This is enhanced by having the living/dining areas upstairs for the views, along with a large deck facing west.
  We enjoyed every morning and evening on that deck, and were treated several times to pods of Orcas feeding along the coast. We were close enough to hear their exhalations when they would surface!
  The home was well cleaned, and well appointed with niceties like bathroom products, complimentary ground coffee, treats etc. Gracious touch!
  The queen beds are very comfortable (a bit on the soft side for our personal taste, but that is subjective of course). The bedrooms are well outfitted with closet/storage space.
  No A/C, but the San Juans rarely stay hot at night, so we would open the screened windows and things would cool down. No window in the master bedroom (double door to small deck, not screened), but a fan is supplied. (A screen on that door would be a nice touch, although we didn't have any bugs while there).
  Kitchen is well stocked (unusual!), and washer/dryer are large and work well. Didn't use hot tub.
  iHome stereo device rigged for iPhone/iPad attachment is nice. Didn't use TV, etc.
  Parking area is easy and large.
  Location beautiful, and remote for privacy (note very helpful owners do live adjacent in own cabin, but didn't impinge on our sense of privacy). Friday Harbor 10-15 minute drive. Same for Lime Kiln SP or Cattle Point. Roche Harbor about 30 min.
  Overall, a wonderful home in a quiet location with a fantastic view. Would highly recommend to friends and family.

When I was in the research phase, looking for places to stay on San Juan Island, I remember reading someone's comment that guests have to go outside to access the patio and hot tub. That's not the case. It was easily accessible through a very clean (and unoccupied) double garage. We really enjoyed the place, and like I mentioned, it was very clean, beautifully updated, awesome views, and all-around great.

  We just returned from a long weekend at Water View Place. What a beautiful home and memorable stay! The home is situated with a view of the water, and we enjoyed daily sightings of deer grazing in the meadow. Each morning we drank our coffee and watched the wildlife and various activities in the bay.
  
  My cousin and I brought our moms up for a long weekend. We spent several hours a day sight seeing, but always looked forward to coming back to the house at the end of the day to relax. Furnishings were comfortable, Wi-fi worked great, and we enjoyed cooking in the well-equipped kitchen.
  
  I would highly recommend this place, and wouldn't mind renting it again in the future. If you have anyone in your party who cannot climb stairs, you may want to consider another location.

  We've rented on both coasts - in the mountains, the desert, on the beach and lakeside - and this property is easily in our top 5; maybe tied for first. The photos are 100% accurate - if not a bit modest: the views across the sound to the Olympics are absolutely incredible. You can actually view the sounds from both the large front deck AND the smaller deck of the master bedroom. The property is well-finished with quality materials, immaculately maintained and spotlessly clean. The owners live next door, and were available and friendly but never intrusive. Near the end of a gravel road, the house is incredibly quiet - except for the sounds of the waves and birds. We saw deer and quail each evening. The welcome snacks and first morning coffee supply were a nice extra touch. While not touted in the review, the living room couch (while not a pull-out) is a comfortable sleeping spot if you have a snorer in your family and kids too old to share a bed! With so much to do on the island, we actually scheduled our sunsets to be back at the house to enjoy them! Amazing place!

  It was one of a kind! The San Juan Islands are like being in another country. And Water View Place was the icing on the cake. We arrived to this well appointed yet comfy cozy home and the whales were feeding in the Haro Strait. They visited mulitple times a day some times and almost every day!   A lovely home in an idyllic rural setting. Very bright, cheery, and open layout with pretty water views. Furnishings and decorations were comfortable and welcoming.   We rented Water View Place in May. The property met & exceeded our expectations. Kitchen was well stocked, pictures don't really do the house justice as to how nice this house is laid out, especially for a group with the open floor plan. The house is actually closer to the water then the pictures let on. Note it is not on the water but close & has an excellent view - great sunsets. If you had two couples it would be a great house to rent with the set up, & could comfortably fit a family. Location was perfect to run into town or around the island to the top tourists spots. Owners do live next door but you don't realize it & are actually quite helpful with suggesting hikes & things to do. San Juan Property Management was great to work with - responded to all emails, easy payment, & followed up to make sure everything was OK with the house which isn't the norm for most rental agencies.

Far enough out that you feel piece of mind, but accessible to a lot of great San Juan tourist spots. Friendly owners - the husband built this house. Only reservation is that it has 1 bathroom.

  This is a marvelous house and excellent location. We watched Orcas playing in the water while we sat on the deck enjoying to spectacular view of the water and Vancouver Island in the distance. The sunsets were brilliant. The house is a great design with lovely furnishings. American Camp is walking/running/riding distance and the beach there is the longest on the island for walking/running and there are trails throughout the park for walking/running. It is a quick drive to Friday Harbor for anything you might want. It is a quick trip to Lime Kiln park for a slightly different view of the whales and sunset, but really the deck offers about the best sunset and whale watching views you can imagine.

  My husband and I and our 17 year daughter stayed here in early August. Water View Place is wonderful for so many reasons. The view from the home is breathtaking. Not only did we watch orca swim by, we could even hear them breathing. Remarkable. The sunsets were incredible too. The setting is so beautiful. It's quaintly rural, yet still only a 10 minute drive to Friday Harbor. The home itself is even nicer than the very nice photos. The kitchen is well stocked with quality cookware, and you can whale watch while you do the dishes! The bathroom is really nice and spacious. Everything about the home is top notch. We even picked a zucchini from the garden to BBQ one night. We will definitely stay here again. It's a gem.

  Our family of 5 fit perfectly in the 3 bedrooms. What a beautiful property from the setting, to the structure, to the decor. This made our stay on San Juan and was the nicest accommodations we had during our 10 day trip to WA. Just beautiful! We saw Orcas from the deck, picked blackberries along the road, and cooked local fish bought in the harbor. You cannot go wrong with this house.

  Our stay at Water View Place was simply wonderful. The house is beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. The owners pay attention to detail. It is in a beautiful location and the upper deck allowed us to enjoy views of the water, watch pods of Orcas swim by and enjoy sunsets. It is about 8-10 minutes from Friday Harbor, so you need a car and can't walk to stores, coffee, etc. Our only minor complaint is that kitchen needs a few more items. But our family had the most wonderful time at San Juan Islands and Water View Place was perfect.

  We selected Water View Place for exactly what the name implies: its water view. I had visited San Juan Island before, and knew the resident Orcas swam by the southern point pretty much every day. I wanted a place with a view of the straits. Water View Place delivered in spades. The house itself was spotlessly clean, the rooms spacious and modern. Our favorite part of the house was the great room; those windows enable you to see everything -- including the passing whales. Also really appreciated the gas grill on the deck outside; we used that a bunch. The kitchen was MUCH nicer than our kitchen at home, and I appreciated that the owners allowed us to use their stash of bags, tin foil, etc. Beds were comfortable and cozy. Upstairs bathroom was immaculate and that tub was big enough for about 10 of us. Loved the downstairs bedroom, too -- the property was only advertised as a 2 BR but really it was a 3 BR. Our kids enjoyed picking snap peas from the garden and running around on the yard out front. Perhaps my only warning to other guests would be to RENT A 4WD VEHICLE. We did not, and after two weeks' of back and forth on the road, I blew a side wall toward the end of our visit. Bottom line: We will be back, and when we return, we'll stay here again. We loved it.

  This is a great vacation home. It has lots of space, and is very well stocked with all essentials. Our hosts were very gracious - they left us fresh baked goodies and home made granola to welcome us. On our first day, we could see orcas swimming by in the ocean!
